A gabion is a cage, cylinder, or box filled with rocks, concrete, or
sometimes sand and soil. Mainly used in civil engineering - the
construction of roads, bridges, dams, and buildings, and for military
applications. Nowadays gabions are mostly utilised in modern landscape
design.
